Ally is the owner, founder, and primary counselor of Refinery Counseling Center LLC. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and board approved supervisor in the state of Louisiana. Ally enjoys providing a range of mental health services including play therapy, family therapy, parenting education and appraisal services. Her areas of focus include anxiety, childhood issues, family and relationship issues, neurodivergent disorders and helping clients through life transitions. Click to learn more.
Joshua Hinkel, PLPC, NCC
Joshua is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). He earned his Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Southeastern Louisiana University.
Joshua has experience working with children, adolescents and adults, and he has supported clients grappling with a variety of struggles. His areas of focus include trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues such as coping with breakups, grief and loss. Joshua’s approach to therapy is integrative and used on the needs of each individual client. He will often use CBT, DBT, and person-centered modalities of treatment. He is also a certified telehealth provider. In his free time Joshua enjoys playing guitar, reading and playing video games.
Madison Hopkins, PLPC, PLMFT
Madison is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) and Provisionally Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (PLMFT). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, both from the University of Louisiana Monroe.
Madison’s areas of focus include relational conflict for individuals, children, couples, and families, anxiety, and self-esteem. Madison utilizes a strength-based and solution-focused approach to counseling and can also incorporate Christian values into her therapeutic model if the client desires. No matter what season of life you are in, Madison wants to be a part of it to help facilitate growth, and when needed, change. If you are seeking to make meaningful changes in your life and relationships, she will help provide the safe space you need to build resiliency and facilitate growth.
Cooper Chavers, BS
Cooper is the office manager at Refinery Counseling Center LLC. She earned her degree in public relations from LSU Manship School of Mass Communication. She spent time after college working in Public Relations for Entergy before moving back to Baton Rouge. Cooper manages the office including scheduling, billing, social media, community engagements and client relations.
Mary Ruiz, PLPC
Mary is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC). She holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern State University.
Mary has experience working with adults and teenagers to address anxiety and stress, depression and suicidality, life adjustments/transitions, relationship problems, self-esteem issues, chronic pain, intimate partner violence and sexual trauma, grief and loss counseling, and religious trauma. Techniques used in session are primarily from an acceptance and commitment and mindfulness therapeutic approach. Mary considers a variety of factors when working with clients, including environmental and societal influences, family dynamics, and each person’s unique biology and personality.
